The VGN Summer Camp is a two-week interactive program hosted by VideoGame.Net and is designed to teach your child about the videogame industry and showcase the tools needed to develop videogames.


VGN Summer Camps are designed for gamers entering 6th through 12th grades and is for gamers that want to learn the inside trick on how games are made. Our camp provides instruction in animation, level design, storyboarding, and character development techniques. Camp is conducted in classrooms and students use Flash, Photoshop, GameMaker and 3D game programs to make game demos, levels and characters.


The first three VGN Camp programs focus on 2D game development and the history of game making. Later camps provide instruction in 3D game art, programing and 3D level design. When you're not making games you can play games at the VideoGame.Net Arcade!

INTRODUCTION TO GAME DESIGN

The Introduction Game Design camp provides an exciting perspective on designing and developing 2D-based flash-based games. The program focuses on videogame development, animation, and design. Students use Flash, Photoshop, and other computer software to develop games. At the end of the two-week session, students have developed their own videogame.


At camp you will:


* Learn the basics of what it takes to make a game!

* Gain the skills necessary to design and develop flash-based videogames!

* You'll create your game with Adobe Flash and Photoshop graphic software packages!

* In camp you learn about the importance of both technology and art design in the development of games!

* By the end of the camp you'll become familiar with the history of the videogame and animation industries!

INTERMEDIATE GAME DESIGN AND ANIMATION

The Intermediate Game Design and Animation camp provides an exciting perspective on developing your skills with 2D flash-based games and animation.


The program focuses on video game development and animation and is the second camp section that you should take. This camp allows the camper to work more with the programing of the game engine, and provides more time to add animations and story elements into a game. At the end of this two-week session, students have made improvements to videogame they created in the introductory class, adding animation and interactive artificial intelligence. The students also have exposure to developing a game with GameMaker.


At camp you will:

* Refine the skills and tools necessary to design and develop videogames!

* Receive advanced instruction using Adobe Flash and Photoshop graphic software packages for animation and programming!

* By the end of the camp you will have a developed a significant amount of experience working with 2D animation and game design!

ADVANCED GAME DESIGN AND INTRO TO 3D GAMING

The Advanced Game Design and Intro to 3D Gaming class refines skills with advanced 2D animation and GameMaker software, and it also intoduces to students to concepts in 3D game design.



Campers work with GameMaker software to develop a sophisticated 2D videogame. At the end of the 80-hour program, students have developed a new, original videogame with GameMaker software. While the course focuses on 2D videogame development, campers also start to work with 3D game engines.


At camp you will:

* Master the design and development of 2D-based videogames!

* Receive advanced instruction in the use of GameMaker software!

* Apply advanced skills in 2D computer animation and game design by developing an original 2D videogame!

GAME LEVEL DESING WITH LITTLE BIG PLANET AND HALO 3

The Game Design with Little Big Planet, Halo 3 and Super Smash Brothers is a bridge course for campers that aren't sure if they want to get into the technical aspects of game design and development. The camp focuses on teaching campers about 2D and 3D game design, without needing to learn programming or advanced 3D art software. The camp is a great option for kids that are just getting introduced to game making, or those that are interested in moving from 2D to 3D game making, but need some extra time before they jump into more advance materials. Campers work XBOX 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii game platforms in the class to create their own game levels on top of pre-existing game engines.


At camp you will:


* Be introduced to the design of both 2D and 3D-based videogames!

* Receive instruction in the use of Halo, Super Smash Bros and Little Big Planet game engines!

* Apply your skills to make your own 2D and 3D game designs!

GAME AND WEB DESIGN FOR KIDS 7 TO 11 YEARS OLD

Game and Web Design for Kids is our new program for kids going into 2nd through 5th grades. The camp is designed for our youngest gamers and provides them with basic instruction in game design with software such as SPORE Creature Creator, Multimedia Fusion and web-based game design with WYSWIG tools. The program focuses on developing the camper's computer, web and gaming skills. The camp is designed so that each session has a different theme, so students can return for multiple sessions, or come back again the following year.


At camp you will:


* Learn the basics of game design and work wirh Multimedia Fusion.

* Gain the basic skills necessary to develop your own webpages!

* You'll create gaming characters with SPORE!

Established in 2003, we are the Premiere Summer Video Game Design Camp in the tri-state area!

Our campers go home with a completed video game that they can share with friends and family all across the world!

and aids, your student will walk away with skills and knowledge that will help them in their future careers!
